The Lions Club of Phillip Island is the Support Partner for the Westernport Pelican Study Group (WPSG) who have been successful in their application for funding from a Bendigo Bank Community Grant.  The WPSG will buy 20 trackers to attach to 20 pelicans over the next 12 months.  This will build on the progress already made by the group as they study the movements of our pelicans.  Western Port pelicans can move regularly to French Island, Mud Island, Queenscliffe, Fish Creek, throughout Western Port area and beyond to northern and eastern Victoria.  The existing database will become more detailed as more pelicans are tracked.  The grant also includes purchase of 6 handheld radios to assist group members in the field.
